These, in summary, are the salient features of the “Gx” series universal trailer trailers proposed by Krone and also the same ones now used by the latest addition to the series, “Gx 520 AgriLiner”, which however differs substantially from other trailers in as equipped with a fifth wheel suitable for attaching it to road tractors. In practice, this combination gives rise to a real truck which, if moved by a tractor oriented towards the quarry/construction site sectors, and therefore characterized by the ability to move even on rough or soft surfaces, lends itself well to combining the combine harvester and the shredder directly on the field.
Precisely to make the most of this possibility, the Krone group has not limited itself to offering its customers the trailer, but has gone further, stipulating an agreement with Mercedes aimed at the creation of an ad hoc tractor, called “AgriTruck” and characterized by construction techniques specifically oriented to allow it to support mixed on and off road activities.
Tractor with all-wheel drive
First and foremost a mechanically operated all-wheel drive system. Recognizable by the Krone green color and the presence of 26 and a half inch tires on the trailer and knobby tires on the tractor, the system was officially presented in Bremen, in Northern Germany, during the “DeLuTa” event, oriented towards contracting, arousing great interest. Indeed, the tractor advances superior standards of comfort together with a large series of advanced driving assistance systems derived from automobiles, while the electronically controlled forced steering system present on the semi-trailer ensures unthinkable maneuverability in light of the size of the convoy which, according to Krone, is characterized by advantageous investment and operating costs compared to traditional solutions which involve the use of agricultural tractors on the road.
